District Service Initiative
MISSION
Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, Inc. is dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of residential and community-based services to meet the needs of vulnerable children by addressing their physical, emotional, social, educational and spiritual development.
VISION
To be a leading human services provider, addressing the ever-changing needs of children and families, led by people of excellence and compassion.
CORE VALUES
Trust is the cornerstone at Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, directing relationships with the children, their families, staff and constituents. It is comprised of five key elements.
So where did Circle K come into the picture? The Carolinas Circle K District began working with the Boys and Girls Homes in fall 2006 by giving the nearby Country Store a new coat of paint. This store sells a multitude of donated merchandise that the children cannot directly use; the money the store makes goes toward funding programs at the Boys and Girls Homes. Since fall 2006, the Carolinas District accomplished an array of tasks. These include moving furniture, building renovation, and campus and Country Store beautification.
But it is not just at Lake Waccamaw where Circle K lends a helping hand. Annually at the Carolinas Circle K District Convention, a pie auction takes place to benefit the Boys and Girls Homes. Members of the Carolinas Circle K District Board, Kiwanians, and Circle K club presidents are auctioned off so that lucky (or those with lots of cash) convention attendants can pie them in the face. The pie auction is always a largely successful event, with usually more than $500 donated to the Boys and Girls Homes.
